The Mersey Gateway - New Merseyside Crossing

The mersey gateway project consists of 8km of road network around the Runcorn/Halton area, with a 2km bridge spanning the river mersey. In order to construct the project, several areas of land and buildings were compulsary purchased in order to clear the route. The three main contractors are Kier, FCC and Samsung C&T which create the MCCJV.

PM Surveys UK were  involved with the Mersey Gateway project for many years. Ranging from an initial marking out of the route during the consultation period 10 years prior until the completion in August 2017.

In December 2011 PM Surveys were approached by the MCCJV to provide surveying services for the project, this began with the initial topographic surveying of the planned route of the project.

Once this was complete, several of our teams remained with the project to provide resident surveying services. At it's peak we had four permenant survey teams based on the project who were involved in every step of the process, from initial piling foundations, through to installation of brige decking and as-builts.

During the course of the project, we provided other services such as Utility Surveys and cross sections.
